1. First, unplug the appliance to prevent electric shock.
2. Look for the switch wiring located behind the control panel.
3. Unscrew and remove the mounting plate for the old W10820036 Whirlpool Door Switch Kit.
4. Disconnect the two electrical wires that are connected to the old door switch.
5. Carefully insert the new W10820036 Whirlpool Door Switch Kit’s terminals into the wire slots.
6. Secure the mounting plate of the new door switch with screws in the same holes as the old switch.
7. Reattach the two wires to the new door switch and make sure the connection is tight.
8. Replace the control panel.
9. Plug the appliance back in and test it out.
