279311 Whirlpool Dryer Flat Igniter Assembly with Bracket
The Gas Dryer Igniter Kit is a flat-style igniter assembly that can be used to replace both a round or flat igniter in your appliance. This kit includes (1) Igniter assembly, (1) bracket, (2) wire nuts and (1) mounting screw. If the dryer does not heat or heats intermittently, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. Note that this igniter is fragile and you cannot touch the grey section of the part; only handle the igniter by its white plastic covering. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. How to Replace a Whirlpool Dryer Flat Ignitor with Bracket (Part 279311)
1. Unplug the dryer power cord from the wall outlet to disconnect power and turn off the gas supply to the dryer.
2. Open the dryer cabinet and locate the ignitor.
3. Remove the bracket screws to separate the ignitor from the bracket and slide the ignitor out of its socket.
4. Place the new ignitor in position and reattach the bracket to the ignitor using the screws.
5. Reconnect the gas supply to the dryer and plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
6. Test the dryer to confirm it is operating correctly.
