WP2182179 Whirlpool Cam Closer
The SxS Refrigerator Lower Door Cam is a black plastic part that allows the refrigerator or freezer’s door to open and close properly. If one or both of the appliance’s lower cams are broken or the ridges have worn off, you can easily replace them with this part. Note that the screw needed for installation is sold separately, part number 3400012. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. Helpful Tips: Consider applying silicone lubricant (item 1074750) to the cam before installation. We also recommend replacing the upper cam (item 2683508) at the same time as this repair.

Replacing the WP2182179 Whirlpool Closer Cam
1. Unplug the appliance before beginning any repair.
2. Remove the front panel screws from the dryer, then slide off the front panel.
3. Disconnect the door switch wires from the dryer by pressing down on the tab and pulling the connector off the terminal block.
4. Loosen and remove the two screws that hold the closer cam in place.
5. Carefully pull the old closer cam off the actuator arm, then slide the new closer cam onto the arm.
6. Reinstall the two screws to secure the closer cam in place.
7. Reconnect the door switch wires to the terminal block.
8. Slide the front panel back onto the dryer, then reinstall the screws to hold it in place.
9. Plug the dryer back into the wall outlet.
10. Test the dryer to make sure the cam is working properly.
