DIY Instructions to Replace the Whirlpool WPW10196406 6" Chrome Drip Bowl
Tools Required:
-Phillips screwdriver
-Needle nose pliers
-Masking tape or painter's tape
-Safety glasses
Step 1: Unplug the appliance from the wall outlet. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. If applicable, release the gas line.
Step 2: Remove the old burner element by unscrewing the two screws that hold it in place. Use the Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screws and be careful not to lose them.
Step 3: Carefully remove the drip pan located below the element by pulling it out with needle nose pliers. Be sure to use caution and not damage the pan or other components.
Step 4: Tape the bottom of the replacement chrome drip bowl in place with masking tape or painter's tape. This will make it easier to attach in the next step.
Step 5: Placing the new drip bowl in position, line up the holes and reattach the screws that hold the element in place. Tighten the screws down with the Phillips screwdriver.
Step 6: Unplug the power cord, reattach the gas line (if applicable), turn the circuit breaker back on and plug the appliance back into the wall outlet.
Step 7: Test the element to ensure it is operating correctly before replacing any other components.
