3360629 Whirlpool Washer Transmission Gearcase
The Washer Neutral Drain Transmission contains the gearbox for your direct-drive washing machine. If the gears inside the transmission are worn out, the washer may not spin. You may be able to alleviate the issue by replacing the part. We strongly recommend that you hire a qualified technician to safely install this part. Replacing this part will require advanced mechanical training. Specialized tools, complex testing and appliance calibration may be required. Helpful Tips: The drive Motor Coupling (item 285753A) can wear out significantly over time; also consider replacing the drive coupler while you have the washer apart. DIY Instructions for Replacing the 3360629 Whirlpool Washer Transmission Gearcase
1. Unplug your washer's power cord from the wall and shut off the water supply to the machine.
2. Remove the screws from the back panel of the washer and remove the bolts and lift it off the top of the machine.
3. Disconnect the wires, hoses, and any other components connected to the transmission gearcase. If the hoses are connected with clamps, use a screwdriver or pliers to loosen them.
4. Take out the old transmission gearcase and set it aside.
5. Place the new transmission gearcase in place and connect the wires, hoses, and components as necessary.
6. Tighten all the screws and bolts that you removed earlier to secure the new gearcase.
7. Put back the washer’s back panel and replace the screws.
8. Turn on the water supply to the washer and plug the power cord back into the wall.
9. Test the washer to make sure it is working properly and safely.
