4391996 Whirlpool Dryer Flat Ignitor
This Flat Style Gas Dryer Igniter lights the gas burner to heat the dryer during the cycle. Includes 1 mounting screw, and 2 ceramic wire nuts. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the oven or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure to turn the gas valve off before the repair. Additionally, the grey coil must be handled with care.

Step 1: Unplug the Whirlpool dryer and turn off the gas supply by turning off the shut-off valve.
Step 2: Access the dryer's interior components by removing the top panel, front panel, and lint screen.
Step 3: Disconnect the wires to the 4391996 Whirlpool dryer flat ignitor by releasing the terminal clips.
Step 4: Remove the screws that secure the ignitor to the burner and pull the ignitor out.
Step 5: Slide the new ignitor into the holder and secure it with the screws.
Step 6: Reconnect the wires to the terminal clips and replace the lint screen, front panel, and top panel.
Step 7: Turn on the gas supply, plug in the dryer, and test the new ignitor.
