Step 1: Unplug Washer
Before beginning, make sure the washer is unplugged from the power source. This will prevent you from accidentally shocking yourself while working.
Step 2: Remove Front Panel
Using your Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from around the front panel of the washer. Once all of the screws are removed, carefully tilt the front panel of the washer outward to release it from any clips that may be securing it.
Step 3: Access Idler Pulley
At this point you should be able to access the idler pulley. Using the flat-head screwdriver, remove the screw that is securing the idler pulley bracket to the side of the washer.
Step 4: Remove Idler Pulley
With the screw removed you should now be able to access the idler pulley. Use your needle nose pliers to remove the spring that is attached to the bracket and the idler pulley. With the spring removed, you can now use the 7/16” socket to remove the mounting bolt that is securing the idler pulley to the bracket.
Step 5: Install New Idler Pulley
Once the old idler pulley has been removed, you can now install the new one. Begin by attaching the new idler pulley to the bracket using the 7/16” socket. Secure the pulley in place using the mounting bolt. Next, attach the spring to the bracket and the idler pulley to finish the installation.
Step 6: Replace Front Panel
With the new idler pulley installed, you can now put the front panel of the washer back in place. Use your Phillips screwdriver to secure the front panel in place by replacing all of the screws.
