100% Guaranteed genuine parts logo
The SxS Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve Assembly allows water to enter the refrigerator’s water dispenser and ice maker. If one of the solenoids in the original unit is bad, it will prevent water from flowing into the ice maker and dispenser. If the icemaker of your appliance stops making ice, no water flows from the dispenser or it flows constantly, or if you notice water at the bottom of the fresh food compartment, the water inlet valve could be malfunctioning and need to be replaced. This assembly includes (1), water inlet valve, (1) piece of plastic tubing, (1) plastic union and installation instructions. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. You must unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also turn off the refrigerator’s water supply before you begin. Helpful Tips:The replacement part may look different than the original in your appliance, but the part will still function the same. We do not recommend disassembling your appliance’s current water inlet valve to clean it due to the risk of failure after the repair.

How to Replace the Whirlpool W10853654 VALVE-INLT

Replacing a faulty or leaking water valve inlet is important to maintain the integrity of your home's plumbing system. The Whirlpool W10853654 VALVE-INLT is a common water inlet valve found in many residential refrigerators and washing machines. Fortunately, replacing this valve can be done easily with a few tools and some basic knowledge. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you replace the Whirlpool W10853654 VALVE-INLT:

Tools Needed:

- Flared Nut Wrench
- Ratchet
- 5/16 inch Hex Nut Driver
- Pliers
- Penetrating Oil

Instructions:

Step 1: Disconnect the power supply to your appliance. Even though the water inlet valve does not contain electricity, it is important to disconnect the power supply to ensure safety.

Step 2: Shut off the cold and hot water supply lines. Generally, the valves that control the water supply to the inlet valve are located directly behind the appliance.

Step 3: Locate the inlet valve. It is usually located on the back wall of the appliance and should be clearly marked as “INLET”.

Step 4: Remove the mounting screws from the housing of the valve. Use your ratchet and a hex nut driver to remove the two screws that secure the valve housing to the appliance.

Step 5: Unscrew the connections to the water supply lines. You will need to use your flared nut wrench to loosen the fittings that attach the water supply lines to the water inlet valve.

Step 6: Remove the old water inlet valve. Once the fittings have been removed, you can pull the old valve out of the housing. To make this process easier, it helps to apply a small amount of penetrating oil to the fittings, which will help to loosen them more easily.

Step 7: Install the new water inlet valve. Connect the inlet valve to the water supply lines and then insert the valve into the housing. Secure the valve with the mounting screws that were previously removed.

Step 8: Reconnect the power supply and turn on the water supply to the unit. Check all the fittings for any leaks and adjust as necessary.

You are now done replacing the Whirlpool W10853654 VALVE-INLT! Properly maintaining your plumbing system will ensure that you minimize the risk of water damage in the future.
