279787 Whirlpool Dryer Drive Motor
This Dryer Drive Motor and Pulley Assembly rotates the dryer belt to spin the drum and includes the pulley to which the dryer belt attaches. To access the part, you'll need to remove the front panel of the dryer. If your appliance stops turning during the drying cycle, won't turn on at all or doesn't spin, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Recommended Item: Blower Wheel (item 1245880) for exhaust with clamp. If the dryer does not heat properly then this wheel may be stripped causing an air flow problem.

DIY Guide: How to Replace a 279787 Whirlpool Dryer Drive Motor
1. Preparation - Before proceeding with the replacement, unplug the dryer and switch off the power supply. Remove the vent hose and back panel screws to gain access to the motor.
2. Motor Removal - Release the tension on the belt and remove the rear drum seal to expose the motor. Disconnect the electrical plugs and unscrew the two bolts that hold the motor in place. Carefully slide the motor out from its position.
3. Replacement - After disconnecting the wires of the old motor, insert the new 279787 Whirlpool dryer drive motor into position. Secure it with the bolts and ensure that the connections are properly made.
