Replacing the WP8318084 Whirlpool Washer Lid Switch Assembly

For those who own a Whirlpool Washer, the WP8318084 is the replacement lid switch assembly. This important and relatively simple repair process should be done each time the washer lid switch needs to be replaced, as it helps the appliance run efficiently and safely. With just a few steps and tools, you can easily replace your washer's lid switch assembly.

Instructions:
1. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, and shut off the water supply valve.
2. Pull the washer away from the wall, and take off the lower rear panel underneath the back of the washer.
3. Find the current lid switch assembly and loosen the two screws that are holding it in place.
4. Lift the old switch assembly up and away from the washer, and disconnect the two wiring harnesses connected to it.
5. Carefully remove any excess glue or residue left on connections from the previous switch.
6. Place the new WP8318084 lid switch assembly into position, and reconnect the wiring harnesses.
7. Secure the lid switch with the two screws.
8. Reattach the lower rear panel to the washer, and turn the water supply valve back on.
9. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
10. Test the new switch by closing the washer lid and observing if the washer starts.
