The SxS Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve allows water to enter the refrigerator’s water dispenser and ice maker. If the icemaker of your appliance stops making ice, the ice cubes are small or hollow, no water flows from the dispenser or it flows constantly, or if you notice water at the bottom of the fresh food compartment, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. The package includes (1) inlet water valve, (1) plastic tube, (1) plastic union and installation instructions. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. Replacing the WP2315576 Whirlpool Water Valve
1. First and foremost, shut off the water supply to your appliance. This includes turning off the main cold water shutoff valve in your home.
2. Next, locate the water valve and disconnect the power line leading from the wall.
3. Using an adjustable wrench, loosen the compression fittings that hold the old water valve in place.
4. Carefully remove the old water valve, making sure not to damage any of the other adjoining parts.
5. Take the new water valve and align it with the same orientation as the removed old one.
6. Secure the new water valve in place using the compression fittings you previously loosened.
7. Reconnect the power line leading to the wall and turn on the main water supply to your house.
8. Test the new Whirlpool water valve and make sure that the water is flowing correctly before using the appliance.
9. Finally, be sure to reduce the water temperature before operating the appliance.
