The Range Temperature Sensor measures the oven temperature of your appliance. If your oven isn't holding the correct temperature during operation, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. This part replaces 3" long oven sensors. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. Replacing a 12001655 Whirlpool Oven Sensor
Tools you will need:
-Phillips-head screwdriver
-Small flat-head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Unplug your oven from the power outlet.
2. Remove the screws that hold the back panel in place, then remove the back panel. These screws are often located at the corners and sides of the back of your oven.
3. Locate the faulty sensor on the back wall, inside your oven. It should be a metal tube going into an electric connector.
4. Disconnect the electrical connection to the sensor by grasping the connector and pulling it straight out.
5. Unscrew the mounting screws holding the sensor in place with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
6. Remove the faulty sensor and discard it.
7. Insert the new sensor into the mounting hole in the back wall of the oven, then secure it in place with the mounting screws.
8. Reconnect the electrical connection to the new sensor by pushing the connector straight in.
9. Test the sensor using a multimeter to make sure it is working correctly.
10. Re-install the back panel of the oven and secure it with the mounting screws.
11. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and turn on the oven.
12. Test the oven to ensure it is working correctly.
