WP3951608 Whirlpool Washer Agitator Thrust Spacer
This Top Load Washer Thrust Spacer Washer should be replaced if your washer won't agitate during use, or, if there is an unusual noise during the wash cycle. To access the part, lift the washer lid and remove the fabric softener dispenser. Remove the barrier cap, and then remove the agitator bolt and the assembly from the machine. Separate the top of the agitator assembly from the lower section. The old thrust spacer lives on top of the lower assembly. Replacing this part will require basic tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. Step 1: Unplug your Whirlpool Washer from the wall outlet. Make sure that the power to the washer has been shut off for safety reasons.
Step 2: Remove the screws located on the top of the washer lid and carefully lift it up. Set the lid aside and locate the agitator. The agitator can be found at the base of the wash tub.
Step 3: Find the cap cover on the agitator. This is a plastic cover that is located on top of the agitator which will need to be removed. Take off the cap and get rid of the broken thrust washer from underneath.
Step 4: Place the new WP3951608 washer agitator thrust washer into the same position that the previous one was in. Ensure that the new thrust washer is securely positioned inside the agitator.
Step 5: Replace the cap cover back into the agitator and make sure that it is locked into place.
Step 6: Replace the lid of your washer back onto the appliance and secure all the screws tightly. Plug the washer back into the wall electrical outlet.
Step 7: Test out your newly replaced washer thrust washer by running a load of laundry through it, to ensure that the part has been correctly installed.
