WP3956205 Whirlpool Balance Ring
This Top Load Washer Tub Cover Gasket seals the balance ring in your washer. If it's damaged, your washing machine tub may leak. To access the part, you'll remove the control panel of the machine and the remove the cabinet from the body of the washer. Release the tub cover by releasing it's locking clips--make sure you release all locking clips before trying to remove the tub cover. The old tub gasket is on the underside of the tub cover. Make sure the foam side of the new seal is facing in. You can press the gasket in gently with a flat blade screwdriver. Replacing this part will require basic tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off your hot and cold water supplies. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner* (item W10501250) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
