The SxS Refrigerator Start Device Assembly is mounted to the side of the compressor on the back of the refrigerator and causes the compressor to start when refrigeration is needed. This device assembly includes the relay and overload. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and prior repair experience. Remember to unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

1. Start by unplugging your Whirlpool WPW10189190 START-DEV from the power source and disconnecting all wires attached to it.
2. Use a screwdriver to carefully remove the screws attaching the START-DEV to the wall or cabinet and then carefully pull it out.
3. Place your new Whirlpool WPW10189190 START-DEV onto the wall or cabinet, aligning it in the same position as the old one.
4. Securely put the screws back into the wall or cabinet, making sure they are all tightened.
5. Now connect the electrical wires to each side of the START-DEV, ensuring proper connections.
6. Plug the Whirlpool WPW10189190 START-DEV into the power socket and switch on at the power point/ switchboard.
7. Finally, test the START-DEV to make sure it has been properly installed.
