This Top Load Washer Tub Bearing Kit is installed between the two tubs, and seals the water into the tubs. This kit includes the hub assembly, seal and spanner nut. If the bearing in your appliance is causing it to no longer function properly, replacing this part may alliviate the issue. If your washer isn't spinning as expected during operation, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Note that the mounting stem and tub bearing kits are sold separately, but should be replaced at the same time. We strongly recommend that you hire a qualified technician to safely install this part. Replacing the 6-2040130 Whirlpool washer tub bearing kit is a relatively simple task that can be done in a few steps. Follow the instructions below to successfully replace your worn tub bearing kit.
1. Unplug the washer and shut off power to the unit.
2. Empty the washer of all clothing and laundry items.
3. Remove the screws located along the outside edge of the washer’s cabinet and slide the top panel up and out of place.
4. Remove the screws located around the control panel and tilt the panel towards you, then set it aside.
5. Remove the screws that hold the washer's outer tub in place, and carefully pull the tub out.
6. Remove the old tub bearing kit by unscrewing the nuts that hold the kit in place.
7. Install the new tub bearing kit, making sure to secure the nuts and bolts firmly.
8. Reinstall the washer's outer tub and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
9. Reattach the washer's control panel and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.
10. Place the top panel back into position and attach it to the cabinet using the screws you removed earlier.
11. Reconnect the power supply to the washer and turn the power back on.
12. Test the washer to make sure it is working properly.
