How to Replace a Whirlpool WPW10207397 Element

Replacing the element on your Whirlpool WPW10207397 oven can be a bit tricky, but with a few tools, some patience, and this DIY guide, you’ll be able to complete the job quickly and safely. Follow these steps to get your new element in place.

1. Unplug your oven from the electrical outlet. Before performing any repairs, it is important to make sure that power is cut off from the appliance.

2. Open the oven door and remove any racks. To access the element, racks will need to be removed before you can begin.

3. Locate the element. The bottom of your oven should have two components: a heating element, which is typically visible, and the element bracket. You’ll need to remove the element bracket to access the element, which is usually hidden behind the bracket.

4. Remove the screws that attach the element bracket to the oven wall. These screws are typically located at the top of the element bracket and may require a Phillips head screwdriver to remove.

5. Detach the wires connecting the element to the power supply. After the screws have been removed, you should be able to pull out the element bracket and access the element. Carefully detach the wires that connect the element to the power supply.

6. Slide the old element out of its socket. Once the wires have been disconnected, you can slide the old element out of its socket.

7. Install the new element in the socket. Make sure to align the tab with the slot in the socket.

8. Connect the wires to the new element. Reconnect the element to the power supply by attaching the wires to the correct terminals on the element.

9. Secure the element bracket back in place. Put the element bracket back in its original position and use the Phillips head screwdriver to re-attach the screws.

10. Plug your oven back in and test the element. Before you put the racks back in the oven, you should plug it back in and turn the oven on. Let it run for a few minutes to make sure the new element is working properly.

Now you’re all set! With these easy steps, you’ve successfully replaced the element on your Whirlpool WPW10207397 oven.
