How to Replace the Whirlpool WP56076 Spring Idler
Replacing the spring idler in your Whirlpool washing machine is a fairly easy do-it-yourself task. This guide will provide the steps necessary to replace your spring idler and get your machine back to spinning again.
Things you will need:
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Pliers
• New Whirlpool WP56076 spring idler
1. Unplug the machine from the wall and make sure that it has had time to cool off.
2. Remove the top panel. This will require a Phillips head screwdriver. Once the panel is off, unplug the lid switch located on the left side of the opening.
3. Turn the machine around and locate the pulley wheel.
4. Use the pliers to loosen the bolt that is holding the pulley wheel in place. Then slide the pulley off the spindle.
5. Carefully remove the old spring idler and discard.
6. Place the new Whirlpool WP56076 spring idler in its place and secure it with the bolt.
7. Plug the lid switch back in and place the top panel back. Secure with the screws.
8. Plug the machine back in and you are ready to resume washing.
