This SxS Refrigerator Dispenser Ice Chute Cap Gasket prevents air from passing between the ice chute cap and the ice chute, creating a tight seal. To access the part, open the freezer and locate the seal on the door. Use a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry the old gasket free from the liner. The new seal lines up with the liner in one position. Line it up and snap it into place. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

Replacing the Whirlpool WPW10287601 Seal
1. Gather the necessary tools and supplies, including a screwdriver, socket wrench set, pliers, wire cutters, and a new Whirlpool WPW10287601 seal.
2. Shut off power to the washer. Unplug the washer from the electrical outlet and make sure all of the controls are off.
3. Position yourself in front of the washer and remove the control panel by unscrewing the screws and pulling away the panel.
4. Using the socket wrench set, remove any screws holding the old seal in place. Unhook the wire attached to the seal and remove it from the drum.
5. Insert the new Whirlpool WPW10287601 seal into the drum and hook up the corresponding wires. Secure the seal in place with the screws and socket wrench set.
6. Re-attach the control panel and screw it in place.
7. Restore power to the washer. Plug it back into the electrical outlet and turn on the controls to ensure the seal is working correctly.
8. Test the new Whirlpool WPW10287601 seal to make sure it is functioning properly.
