Replacing the WP99002780 Whirlpool Lower Wheel Assembly
It is not difficult to replace the lower wheel assembly in a Whirlpool dishwasher, although it should be done carefully to prevent any unnecessary damage. The following steps will guide you through the process.
1. Make sure the power to the dishwasher is turned off before beginning the repair.
To do this, locate the main circuit breaker in the home's electrical panel and turn it off.
2. Remove the dishwasher door and detach the spray arm.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door in place. Carefully lift the door up and away from the dishwasher. Disconnect the hose connecting the spray arm to the tub and use the screwdriver to remove the screws securing the spray arm to the interior of the dishwasher. Lift the spray arm out of the unit.
3. Loosen and remove the mounting screws holding the lower wheel assembly in place.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws which secure the lower wheel assembly to the interior of the dishwasher. Once the screws are removed, grasp the wheel assembly and pull it out of the dishwasher.
4. Install the new lower wheel assembly.
Carefully insert the new lower wheel assembly into the dishwasher. Secure the assembly in place with the mounting screws. Reconnect the hose to the spray arm and re-install the spray arm back into the dishwasher.
5. Re-attach the door.
Carefully lower the dishwasher door into place and secure it with the screws. Turn the power back on at the main circuit breaker.
