Step 1:
Start by preparing the area for repair. Before beginning any appliance repair, you should unplug the unit from the wall socket or turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Then, remove all shelves, drawers, and racks from the unit.
Step 2:
Locate the door switch. On most Whirlpool models, the switch will be located on the upper right hand side of the door panel. The part is typically labeled "W10269460". Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully remove the screw holding the switch in place.
Step 3:
Pull out the door switch and disconnect the wires. Use needle nose pliers to gently pull the wires away from the terminals on the switch. Be careful not to damage the wires when doing this.
Step 4:
Install the new switch. Carefully insert the new switch into the mounting hole and gently attach the two wires to the terminals. Make sure the connection is tight and secure.
Step 5:
Secure the switch in place. Once the switch is connected properly, use the flathead screwdriver to put the screw back into the hole, holding the switch in place.
Step 6:
