676413 Whirlpool Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser Door Latch Kit
The Dishwasher Detergent Lid Door Latch Kit replaces a latch that's damaged or broken to where the detergent lid door in your dishwasher is no longer opening and closing properly. The soap dispenser assembly is located on the inside of the dishwasher door on the right side. To access the part, pull back on the tab to release the dispenser lip and use a pair of pliers to grab on to the old latch. Pull up slightly to remove. Includes detergent latch and snap. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dishwasher and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Step 1: Prepare to replace the Whirlpool Dishwasher DETERGENT DISPENSER DOOR LATCH KIT (676413). Make sure you have all of the necessary tools and safety equipment. It is recommended that you turn off the power to the dishwasher at the breaker before beginning any tool work.
Step 2: Remove the bottom trim panel by unscrewing the two screws near the door and lifting the piece off.
Step 3: Remove the two screws holding the dispenser assembly in place.
Step 4: Disconnect the two wires attached to the old latch assembly and then take out the old assembly.
Step 5: Connect the new latch to the existing wiring harness, insert the new latch into the dishwasher, and reattach the two screws.
Step 6: Replace the bottom trim panel and reattach the screws.
Step 7: Restore power to the dishwasher at the breaker. Check that the door latch properly secures the door.
