WP3149400 Whirlpool Oven Range Infinite Switch
This Range Surface Burner Control Switch is a replacement part that operates your appliance's surface element, turning it off and on and regulating its heat intensity. This switch (also called the infinite switch) is for an 8-in burner, 8.9 - 11.0 amps, and sends voltage to the surface element coil. If your element remains at high heat or doesn’t turn on at all, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the range and novice repair experience. You must unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

Replacing the WP3149400 Whirlpool Infinite Switch
1. Unplug your appliance from the wall outlet.
2. Remove the top panel of the appliance by unscrewing the screws located on either side.
3. Remove the rear cover of the control panel to gain access to the infinite switch.
4. Disconnect the power wires connected to the old switch, taking care to remember which wire is connected to which side of the switch.
5. Remove the mounting screws that secure the switch in place and lift the old switch out.
6. Place the new switch into position, securing it with the mounting screws.
7. Reconnect the power wires to the appropriate terminals on the new switch, being careful to reconnect the same wire to the same terminal as before.
8. Reinstall the rear cover of the control panel and secure it with the screws.
9. Replace the top panel of the appliance and secure it with the screws located on either side.
10. Plug your appliance into the wall outlet and test the new switch.
