W10083957V Whirlpool Dishwasher Chopper
The Dishwasher Chopper Assembly is located inside the dishwasher pump, and chops up/minces the food particles in the dishwasher to help prevent from clogging the dishwasher pump. If your drain is clogging with larger pieces of food, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. To access the part, remove the lower dishrack from the appliance and remove the lower spray arm hub. Then remove the screws holding the top of the pump on, and the cover. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the water supply under the sink. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Dishwasher Cleaner (item W10282479) once a month or as needed, to help remove limescale and mineral buildup that can affect your dishwasher's performance. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation. Recommended Item: The Dishwasher Drain Pan (item 1021760) slides underneath the appliance and diverts any water leak to the front of the dishwasher.
