WPW10324262 Whirlpool Oven Igniter
The Gas Range Bake Igniter supplies the gas to light bake burner inside your appliance’s oven. This part is designed to be used with gas ovens that have a Direct Spark Ignition (DSI). You may need this replacement part if the element itself shorted out, or if the igniter of your oven glows for more than 90 seconds without lighting the gas flame – this indicates that the igniter is too weak to properly open the valve to allow the gas to feed through. The igniter must glow white hot to properly light the oven; if it glows red or orange it is not functioning correctly. Replacing this assembly will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the gas range and novice repair experience. You must unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Replacing the Whirlpool WPW10324262 IGNTR-OVEN
Tools Needed:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Pliers
- New Whirlpool WPW10324262 IGNTR-OVEN
Instructions:
1. Unplug the oven from its power source. If the oven is hardwired, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse to deactivate the power.
2. Remove the screws that secure the oven control panel and set aside.
3. Locate the existing Whirlpool WPW10324262 IGNTR-OVEN and use a flathead screwdriver to unfasten the mounting screws.
4. Pull out the oven igniter and disconnect the wires from the terminals.
5. Take your new Whirlpool WPW10324262 IGNTR-OVEN and connect the wires to their corresponding terminals. Secure the wires using pliers.
6. Reinstall the new oven igniter with the mounting screws, then set the control panel back in place and secure it with the screws.
