WPW10310274 Whirlpool Bake Element
This Range Lower Bake Element is a replacement part that provides constant heat from the lower oven when cooking. If your oven does not bake properly, check to see if there is a burned-out section of the element and replace if needed. The bake element is held into the back of the oven with 2 screws. Make sure, when disconnecting the wires from the old bake element, not to let them fall back into the oven wall. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the oven and novice repair experience. You must unplug the oven or shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven before installing this part.

Step 1: Disconnect Power
Start by shutting off the power to the oven. Locate your home's fuse box and switch off the circuit breaker that powers your kitchen appliances.
Step 2: Access the Oven
Depending on the oven type, you may need to move the stove away from the wall to access the back of the oven. For electric ranges, the oven door should be opened to get to the interior. For gas ovens, remove the burner grates and their assembly.
Step 3: Remove the Bake Element
Locate the WPW10310274 Whirlpool bake element at the rear of the oven. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the screws that are connecting the element to the back wall of the oven. Then, unplug the two (2) electrical connectors located at the end of the element. The bake element should now be free to remove.
Step 4: Install the New Element
Carefully insert the new WPW10310274 Whirlpool bake element into the back wall of the oven. Secure the element with the screws removed in Step 3. Connect the two (2) electrical connectors to the end of the bake element.
Step 5: Test & Clean Up
Replacing the bake element is a relatively straightforward task, but it’s important to test the wiring connection after installation. Turn the circuit breaker back on at the fuse box and test the oven’s heating element. If the oven is heating properly, great! You’ve successfully replaced the WPW10310274 Whirlpool bake element!
