This Washer Drain Pump is what drains the waste water out of your washing machine. It also houses a large filter which can be cleaned with affresh® Washing Machined Cleaner once a month. If water is leaking onto the floor from the pump, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Step 1: Unplug the Appliance
Safety is always a priority when conducting any type of appliance repair. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before beginning any repairs to avoid shocks or other hazards.

Step 2: Remove the Washer Cabinet
The cabinet of the washer must be removed in order to access the water pump. Disconnect the water supply hoses and unscrew the screws that secure the cabinet to the base of the machine. Pull the cabinet from the machine and set it aside.

Step 3: Access the Pump
Once the cabinet of the washer has been removed, you will have access to the water pump. Unplug the electrical connections for the pump and remove any screws that may be holding it in place. Carefully lift the old pump out of its housing and discard it.

Install the new WPW10730972 Whirlpool washer water pump in the same fashion as the old one. Secure the pump with any necessary screws and plug in the electrical connections.

Step 6: Test the New Pump
Run a cycle on the washer and make sure there are no leaks. If everything is functioning correctly, the DIY installation is complete.
