The SxS Refrigerator Air Damper Control Assembly controls the cold airflow from the freezer compartment into the fresh food compartment. If your freezer is the correct temperature but the fresh food is too cold or not cold enough, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. The damper control is located in the freezer inside the ice maker assembly. You will need to remove the ice maker from your refrigerator to access this part. Replacing Your Whirlpool Damper Control Assembly (WPW10248595)
Tools needed:
✔ Screwdriver
✔ Wrench
✔ Masking Tape
Instructions:
1. Turn off the power to the appliance and unplug it.
2. Open the access panel by unscrewing the screws with a screwdriver.
3. Locate the damper control assembly inside the access panel. It is usually located around the back or side of the appliance.
4. Use masking tape to label the connections from the old damper control assembly to make it easier to reconnect later.
5. Unscrew the screws with a wrench and remove the old assembly from the appliance.
6. Attach the new damper control assembly in the same place, ensuring all connections match what was labeled earlier.
7. Securely fasten the damper control assembly, using the screws and wrench.
8. Turn on the power to the appliance, plug it back in, and test the damper control assembly to make sure it is functioning properly.
9. Replace the access panel, using the screwdriver.
