WP902894 Whirlpool Door Gasket

The Dishwasher Door Gasket creates a seal around the dishwasher to prevent water from leaking out. If the door seal is torn or the dishwasher is leaking water, replacing the part may alleviate these issues. Note that the faulty dispenser latch gasket more commonly causes a leaking dishwasher than a damaged door gasket. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the water supply under the sink. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Dishwasher Cleaner (item W10282479) once a month or as needed, to help remove limescale and mineral buildup that can affect your dishwasher's performance. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation. Recommended Item: The Dishwasher Drain Pan (item 1021760) slides underneath the appliance and diverts any water leak to the front of the dishwasher.

Step 1: Unplug the Refrigerator

Before beginning any repairs on a refrigerator, ensure that it is properly unplugged from the electrical outlet. This step helps to eliminate the risk of electric shock.

Step 2: Locate the Old Gasket

The old WP902894 Whirlpool Door Gasket will be located around the perimeter of the door. This gasket is made up of a thin plastic strip with a foam backing.

Step 3: Carefully Remove the Old Gasket

Using a flathead screwdriver, carefully pry the gasket away from the door. Take care to not damage the door surface.

Step 4: Clean the Door

Use a damp cloth to wipe down the refrigerator door in the area where the old gasket was removed. This will help to ensure the new gasket adheres properly.

Step 5: Apply the New Gasket

Starting at one end, place the new WP902894 Whirlpool Door Gasket onto the door. Using a rubber mallet, gently tap along the length of the gasket to ensure it is securely in place.

Step 6: Check for Leaks
