DIY Instructions For Replacing the Whirlpool W11497304 Wheel-Drive
1. Gather Your Tools and Supplies. Before you begin, make sure that you have the necessary tools and supplies on hand. You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver, a flat-head screwdriver, a pair of pliers, lubricant, a new Whirlpool W11497304 Wheel-Drive, and a bowl or bucket to collect any screws or pieces from the old Wheel-Drive.
2. Unplug The Appliance. Before you begin any repair, it is important to make sure you unplug the appliance from the wall outlet. This is for your safety, as well as to protect the machine from electrical shock or damage.
3. Remove the Cover. Begin by removing the cover from the rear of the appliance. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws from the cover. Once the screws are removed, carefully move the cover away to access the interior of the machine.
4. Detach the Old Whirlpool W11497304 Wheel-Drive. Using a flat-head screwdriver, remove the retaining screws that secure the old Wheel-Drive in place. There may be up to four screws; use a small bowl or bucket to hold the screws while you work. Once the screws are removed, carefully pull the Wheel-Drive away from the machine. Use a pair of pliers to detach the wiring harness, if necessary.
5. Install the New Whirlpool W11497304 Wheel-Drive. Take the new Wheel-Drive and carefully attach it in place, using the same screws you removed before. Make sure the screws are tightened securely. Plug in the wiring harness – if needed.
6. Test and Reassemble. Plug in the machine and press the start button. The new Wheel-Drive should work properly. If it does not, you may need to troubleshoot the issue further. Once you have confirmed that the new Wheel-Drive works properly, replace the cover and secure it with the screws you set aside earlier.
