Replacing the D511629P Speed Queen Dryer Motor and Pulley Assembly, 120/60 PKG

Replacing the motor and pulley assembly on a Speed Queen dryer is a fairly straightforward process. However, special attention should be taken to ensure your safety and avoidance of electrical shock. This guide will provide step-by-step instructions for replacing the D511629P Speed Queen Dryer Motor and Pulley Assembly, 120/60 PKG.

Before beginning, make sure that the power to the dryer is off at the circuit breaker and unplug the dryer from the wall.

Tools Needed: Phillips Head Screwdriver, Nut Driver, Needle Nose Pliers

Step 1: Remove the dryer top by loosening the two screws at the back of the dryer.

Step 2: Remove the four screws located around the door opening.

Step 3: Carefully lift up on the top panel and prop it open.

Step 4: Disconnect the plug, located on the left side of the motor, using needle nose pliers.

Step 5: Loosen the three screws, located on the right side of the motor, using a nut driver.

Step 6: Pull the black wire with the yellow stripe, located beneath the motor, through the support bracket.

Step 7: Lift and remove the motor.

Step 8: Slide the pulley assembly off the old motor and discard it.

Step 9: Slide the pulley assembly onto the new motor and secure with the three screws.

Step 10: Push the black wire with the yellow stripe through the support bracket.

Step 11: Connect the plug to the left side of the motor.

Step 12: Place the motor into the dryer and secure with the four screws.

Step 13: Close the top panel and secure with the two screws.

Step 14: Plug the dryer into the wall and turn the circuit breaker back on.
