WP8318268 Whirlpool Thermostat
This Dryer Cycling Thermostat monitors and regulates the temperature inside the dryer. If the cycling thermostat is no longer working properly, you may notice that your dryer will not heat. Note that a multimeter (item 964740) can be used to test for continuity to determine if the thermostat is defective and requires replacement. This assembly includes (1) adjustable dryer cycling thermostat with an internal-bias heater (WP3387134) and installation instructions. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. How to Replace the Whirlpool WP8318268 THRMST-FIX
1. Unplug the appliance and shut off the gas or power source, depending on your stove type.
2. Remove the oven door and detach the insulation in order to access the rear panel where the THRMST-FIX is located.
3. Disconnect the wires from the THRMST-FIX. Be sure to note the position of the wires and how they were connected before disconnecting them.
4. Carefully remove the THRMST-FIX from its mounting bracket, taking note of how it was mounted.
5. Install the new THRMST-FIX in the same manner as the old one.
6. Reconnect the wires to their original positions.
7. Secure the new THRMST-FIX to the mounting bracket.
8. Reinstall the insulation and oven door.
9. Plug the appliance back in and restore the gas or power source.
10. Test the new THRMST-FIX to ensure it is working properly.
