WP3355806 Whirlpool Lid Switch
The Stackable Washer Lid Switch Assembly detects if the washer lid is open or closed and prevents the washer from spinning when the lid is open. Sometimes the body of the switch cracks from slamming the washer lid over time, or the internal switch fails and is no longer able to tell the washer the lid is closed. If the lid switch is broken or if your washer won't spin but will still agitate, replacing the lid switch may alleviate these issues. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets* (item W10135699) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.
