WPW10683603 Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve
This Top Load Washer Water Inlet Valve allows hot water to fill in the washer during the cleaning cycle. If your washer isn’t getting any hot water, filling slowly, not filling at all, or leaking hot water onto the floor, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. This part attaches the water lines to the back of your appliance. The attaching solenoids on the valve open and close according to the desired temperature, or amount of water needed. Recommended Item: Consider replacing the Fill Hose (item 8212487RP) at the same time as this repair. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets* (item W10501250) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.

Step 1: Prepare the Work Area - Before beginning the repair, put on safety glasses and turn off the power and water to the washer. Then, lay down a tarp or newspaper near the washer to protect the floor from any debris that might fall out of the washer during the repair.
Step 2: Locate and Unscrew the Old Valve - Locate the old valve. It is usually located at the back of the washer behind the kickplate. Unscrew the two screws that are holding it in place.
Step 3: Disconnect the Hoses - Once the valve has been unscrewed, disconnect the hoses by twisting off the clamps with the pliers. Again, make sure to be careful not to spill any water.
Step 4: Remove the Old Valve - Carefully pull out the old valve. Make sure to inspect it for any damage or signs of wear and tear.
Step 5: Install the New Valve - Place the new valve into the hole and reconnect the hoses. Be sure to tighten the clamps tightly so there won’t be any leaks.
Step 6: Secure the Valve - Secure the valve in place by screwing in the two screws.
Step 7: Turn On Power and Water Supply - Turn on the power and water supply to the washer. Finally, test the valve and make sure that it functions properly.
