DIY: Replacing the WP74010824 Whirlpool Element Control Switch
Tools Needed:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Voltage meter
- Pliers
Instructions:
1. Make sure the power to your appliance is off. Using a voltage meter, check that there is no power flowing to the element control switch.
2. Remove the screws holding the panel in place and remove the back panel of the appliance.
3. Look for the WP74010824 Whirlpool Element Control Switch and make sure it matches the part number.
4. Disconnect the wires connecting to the switch using a pair of pliers. Take note of the colour of each wire.
5. Remove the screws holding the old switch in place and take out the switch.
6. Insert the new WP74010824 Whirlpool Element Control Switch into the same position as the old one.
7. Secure the new switch with the screws that were removed earlier.
8. Connect the wires to their corresponding places by matching the colours of each wire.
9. Replace the back panel and secure it with the screws.
