Unplug the appliance, and then locate the dryer’s idler pulley. This part is typically near the bottom of the machine, near the motor.
Step 2: Remove the Old Pulley
Using a screwdriver, carefully remove the screws that are holding the pulley in place. Make sure you don’t lose any of the screws as they will be needed when reinstalling the new part.
Step 3: Remove the Belt
Once the pulley has been removed, you can now take the old belt off. It may be helpful to use a pair of pliers or another tool to help you pull it off.
Step 4: Install the New Pulley
Now that the old pulley is out, you can begin to install the replacement part. First line up the new idler pulley so that it is in the correct position, then use the same screws from the previous pulley to secure it in place.
Step 5: Reinstall the Belt
Now you can take the new belt and slide it over the new pulley. Make sure that it is tight enough to keep the dryer running smoothly.
