W10780051 Whirlpool Suspension Rod
The Top Load Washer Suspension Rod Kit supports the wash tub and helps to dampen its movement during unbalanced cycles. This kit includes (4) suspension rods, (4) bearings, (4) bearing cups and installation instructions. If you washer remains unbalanced during use, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Installing this kit will require basic hand tools, disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. How To Replace the Whirlpool W10780051 Suspension Spring
1. Unplug the power cord to the washing machine from the wall outlet. Shut off the water supply to the machine by turning off the water supply valves located behind the washer.
2. Move the washer away from the wall and place it on a sturdy surface. Look underneath the machine and locate the suspension spring. Take note of the orientation of the spring before removing it.
3. Remove the old spring with a pair of pliers or a wrench. Make sure you do not damage the surrounding parts while removing the spring.
4. Locate the new suspension spring and make sure that it is the same size and shape as the one being removed. Use a ruler to measure the size if necessary.
5. Place the new suspension spring in the same position as the old one. Use a pair of pliers or a wrench to secure the spring in place.
6. Return the washer to its original position, making sure that all the screws are properly tightened. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the water supply valves.
7. Test the washer to make sure that the new suspension spring is correctly installed.
