How to Install Your Refrigerator Water Filter: Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Locate the Existing Water Filter
Find the water filter inside your refrigerator—either in the upper right-hand corner or in the base grille, depending on your model.
Step 2: Open the Filter Compartment
Gently lift the filter door to access the current filter.
Step 3: Remove and Discard the Old Filter
Pull the used water filter straight out and dispose of it properly.
Step 4: Prepare the New Water Filter
Unpack your new filter and remove any protective coverings from the O-rings. Ensure the O-rings remain securely in place after the packaging is removed.
Step 5: Install the New Water Filter
Align the filter with the slot so the arrow points upward. Slide it in carefully—do not force it. If it doesn’t insert smoothly, rotate the filter to match the grooves with the notches.
Step 6: Secure the Filter Door
Push the filter door closed until it clicks or snaps into place.
Step 7: Flush and Reset
Run four gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter. Then, reset the filter indicator light on your refrigerator panel.
