DIY Guide to Replacing the Whirlpool Washer Water Drain Pump (Model #WPW10605427)

If your Whirlpool washer is not draining properly, it may be time to replace the water drain pump. This guide will show you step-by-step how to replace the Whirlpool washer water drain pump (model #WPW10605427).

Step 1: Gather Supplies and Preparation

Before you begin, make sure that you have all the required tools and supplies on hand. You’ll need the following items to complete this repair: new water drain pump, pliers, adjustable wrench, slip joint pliers, flat-head screwdriver, Phillips-head screwdriver.

Next, unplug the washer from its power source and shut off the water supply. To do this, turn off the valves connected to the inlet hose from the wall or floor. Then, unhook the inlet and outlet hoses from the pump.

Step 2: Remove Top Panel

Open the lid of the washer and use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws located at the top of the back panel. Next, slide the panel up slightly and then lift off the back panel.

Step 3: Remove the Old Pump

Once the back panel is off, you’ll be able to see the old water drain pump. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the clamp holding the pump in place. Once loose, slide it off and discard the old pump.

Step 4: Install New Pump

Slide the new pump into place, making sure that the new pump’s hose connections are facing the same direction as the old pump’s were. Use the adjustable wrench to reattach the clamp that holds the pump in position.

Step 5: Reassemble Washer

Reattach the inlet and outlet hoses to the pump and plug the washer back into its power source. Finally, reattach the back panel and screws to the washer.

By following these steps, you have successfully replaced the Whirlpool washer water drain pump (model #WPW10605427). Your washer should now work properly and be draining as expected.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
