Replacing the WPW10550642 Whirlpool Range Oven Rack
1. Prepare for the job by wearing appropriate clothing and protection, such as protective eyewear, heat-protective gloves, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants. Make sure you have easy access to a safe work area with no pets or children around.
2. Unplug your oven and turn off the gas supply valve before beginning any repairs.
3. Locate the oven rack that needs to be replaced. It should be found in the oven cavity near the bottom.
4. Using gloves, carefully remove the rack from the oven. To do this, simply pull it out and gently lift it up and over the door frame.
5. Place the new WPW10550642 Whirlpool range oven rack in the oven. Make sure the rack is oriented correctly, so that the rolled edges are facing up towards the top of the oven and the notches fit snugly into the grooves in the oven's interior.
6. If necessary, use a flathead screwdriver to adjust the rack so it is level and securely held in place.
7. Plug the oven back in and turn the gas supply valve back on.
8. Test the oven rack by placing a few items on the rack, like cookie sheets and pans, and turning on the oven. The rack should remain firmly in place without wobbling or shifting.
