WP8182233 Whirlpool Baffle Assembly
The Dryer Drum Baffle attaches to the inside of the dryer drum and helps tumble clothing during the drying cycle. If the mounts of your dryer’s current baffle become broken or damaged causing the part to detach from the drum, you’ll need to replace the entire piece with this part. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Recommended Item: You may also need one or more screws (item 897892) to hold the new baffle against the drum.

1. Begin by turning off the power supply to the Whirlpool appliance. Unplug any cords and gas lines that are connected to the unit.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws holding the baffle to the back panel. Be sure to save the screws, as they will be used to reattach the new baffle.
3. Once the screws have been removed, carefully lift the old baffle out of the appliance.
4. Inspect the new baffle for any damage or defects. If there are any issues, return the part to the store for a replacement before continuing with the repair.
5. Place the new baffle in the opening in the back panel. Make sure to line up the holes in the baffle with the ones in the back panel.
6. Secure the new baffle using the screws removed from the old one. Hand-tighten the screws to avoid over-tightening them.
7. Replace any cords or gas lines that were disconnected when beginning the repair.
