WP3977767 Whirlpool Whirlpool Dryer High Limit Thermostat
The Dryer High Limit Thermostat includes a terminal extension arm and opens at approximately 250 degrees F. The only difference between the high limit thermostat and the operating thermostat is their opening and closing temperatures. If your dryer won’t heat, this part might be defective and should be replaced. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. DIY Guide to Replacing the WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat
Tools You Will Need:
-Phillips head screwdriver
-Needle nose pliers
-New WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat
Instructions:
1. Start by turning off the power supply to your hot water heater at the circuit breaker. Once the power is off, unscrew the access panel on the side of the hot water heater.
2. Locate the WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat in the hot water heater, it should be located on the side wall approximately four inches from the bottom of the tank.
3. Carefully remove the thermostat cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage any wires or connections near the thermostat.
4. Disconnect the red and black wires from the old thermostat using needle nose pliers and carefully remove the old thermostat.
5. Place the new WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat into the same position as the old one.
6. Reattach the red and black wires using the needle nose pliers.
7. Replace the thermostat cover and screws.
8. Turn the power back on to the hot water heater at the circuit breaker and test the thermostat to make sure it is functioning correctly.
9. If everything is functioning correctly, replace the access panel and you're done!

Instructions:

2. Locate the WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat in the hot water heater, it should be located on the side wall approximately four inches from the bottom of the tank.
3. Carefully remove the thermostat cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Be careful not to damage any wires or connections near the thermostat.
4. Disconnect the red and black wires from the old thermostat using needle nose pliers and carefully remove the old thermostat.
5. Place the new WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat into the same position as the old one.
6. Reattach the red and black wires using the needle nose pliers.
7. Replace the thermostat cover and screws.
8. Turn the power back on to the hot water heater at the circuit breaker and test the thermostat to make sure it is functioning correctly.
9. If everything is functioning correctly, replace the access panel and you're done!
