882699 Whirlpool Trash Compactor Gear Drive Kit
This Trash Compactor Drive Gear Kit fits on the motor shaft and engages the gear to drive the chain. This kit comes with both gears, pin springs, c spring, ram stop and ram cam. Instruction sheet included. If the gear is worn out or damaged, the trash compactor will make a loud sound and no longer operate correctly. When placing the compactor on its side, be sure to protect your flooring. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the trash compactor and novice repair experience. You must unplug the compactor or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

How to Replace the 882699 Whirlpool Trash Compactor Drive Gear Kit
1. Unplug your trash compactor from its power source.
2. Remove the screws securing the lid in place and then lift the lid off.
3. Pull the upper compactor bag open, locate the motor assembly, and then disconnect the wires running to it.
4. Loosen the screws holding the motor assembly in place and then lift out the assembly.
5. Examine the drive gear and inspect for signs of wear or damage. If present, replace it with the 882699 Whirlpool Trash Compactor Drive Gear Kit.
6. Align the new drive gear kit onto the motor shaft and secure it firmly with the screws that were removed earlier.
7. Reconnect the wiring to the motor assembly.
8. Place the assembly back into the compactor and secure it with the screws.
9. Place the lid back onto the compactor and secure it with the screws.
10. Plug in your trash compactor again and test it to make sure that the new drive gear kit is working properly.
