This Front Load Washer Drain Pump removes water from your front-load washer during the drain portion of the wash cycle. Includes the complete pump and motor assembly. How to Replace the 280187 Whirlpool Washer Water Drain Pump - Electronic
Having a broken water pump in your Whirlpool washer can cause your appliance to get stuck in the middle of a cycle, leaving your clothes wet and possibly flooding your laundry room. Luckily, replacing the 280187 Whirlpool Washer Water Drain Pump - Electronic is easy to do yourself if you just follow these simple steps.
1. Unplug the Power. Before attempting any repairs to your washer, make sure to unplug the appliance from the power outlet. This is for your safety, as well as the protection of your machine.
2. Disconnect the Hoses. Start by disconnecting the two hoses that are connected to the back of the washer and the drain pipe. If necessary, use a pair of pliers to loosen them.
3. Remove the Clamps and Clips. You should be able to see several clamps and clips around the edges of the washer’s cabinet. Loosen these with a screwdriver and remove them.
4. Slide Out the Drum. With the clamps and clips removed, carefully slide out the drum and remove it from the washer.
5. Access the Water Pump. Once the drum is out, you will be able to access the water pump on the bottom of the washer.
6. Unbolt the Water Pump. To remove the pump, use a socket wrench to unbolt it from the washer.
7. Install the New Water Pump. Once the old pump is removed, install the new one in its place. Tighten the bolts securely with a socket wrench.
8. Reassemble the Washer. Put the drum back in place and reattach the clamps and clips. Connect the hoses securely, and plug the washer back into the power.
