WPW10463906 Whirlpool Dishwasher Screen Filter Cover
The Dishwasher Filter removes food particles and debris from the water to prevent the drain from clogging. To access the part, pull out the upper and lower dishracks and remove the lower spray arm by securing it with pliers and turning it counter clockwise. Pull out the lower spray arm hub. You can then remove the screws from the old filter assembly and remove it. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dishwasher and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. 1. To begin, turn off the power to your Whirlpool Dishwasher. If it’s hard wired, turn off the power at the breaker box.
2. Pull the dishwasher away from its installed location, so you have sufficient access to the back of the unit.
3. Look for the WPW10463906 filter cover. It’s located just above the lower spray arm and can easily be accessed by removing the lower rack.
4. Once you’ve located the filter cover, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure it in place. This exposes the existing filter screen.
5. Gently remove the old filter screen, and replace it with a new one. Make sure to line up the holes correctly when re-installing the new filter screen.
6. Place the WPW10463906 filter cover back on the dishwasher and secure it with the two screws you removed in Step 4.
7. Push the dishwasher back into its original position, making sure all connections are secure.
8. Turn the power back on and test your dishwasher to make sure the new filter cover is functioning properly.
