How to Replace a Whirlpool Range Oven Bake Element (WPW10207398)

Replacing your range oven bake element (WPW10207398) is a relatively simple DIY project that you should be able to complete in just a few steps. Here’s how to do it with these easy-to-follow instructions.

Materials Needed:
-Replacement bake element (WPW10207398)
-Phillips head screwdriver

Step 1: Shut off power to the range. Before beginning any repair work, make sure to turn off both the main power switch to the range and the breaker at your fuse box.

Step 2: Locate the bake element. Remove the back panel of the range and locate the bake element in the lower section of the oven.

Step 3: Remove the old element. Disconnect the 2 terminal wires going to the old element by unscrewing the wire connectors from the terminals. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws securing the element to the oven wall. Gently pull the element away from the wall.

Step 4: Install the new bake element. Fit the new bake element into the oven wall and secure with the screws. Once the element has been securely fitted, reconnect the two wires using the terminal screws.

Step 5: Test the element. Turn on the power to the range and set the oven temperature to 350°F/176°C. It should take approximately 15 minutes for the element to heat up. If it does not, you may need to check the wiring connections.

And that’s all there is to it! With the WPW10207398 bake element replaced, your range should be fully operational again.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
