This Washer Water Inlet Valve Assembly helps to control and balance the water temperature flowing into the washer tub by controlling the water flow into the washer. This assembly includes the cold water inlet valve, hot water inlet valve, wire harness and housing. If your washer isn't filling with water as expected, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. DIY: How to Replace a Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Model WPW10144820)

Tools Needed:
-Screwdriver
-Cutting Pliers
-Utility Knife
-Plumber's Tape

Step 1: Shut off the water supply to the washing machine by turning off both the cold and hot water valves located near the inlet valve.

Step 2: Unplug the washing machine. This can be done by pulling the plug out of the wall outlet.

Step 3: Locate the water inlet valve. It will be located behind the front panel of the washer.

Step 4: Remove the screws that are holding the valve in place, using the screwdriver.

Step 5: Pull the valve out of the washer. Carefully cut the hoses connected to the valve with the utility knife.

Step 6: Take your new Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve (Model WPW10144820) and attach it to the hoses of the washer. Make sure you use plumber's tape for a tight seal.

Step 7: Secure the inlet valve to the washer by screwing it back in place.

Step 8: Plug the washer back in and turn on the water supply valves. Test the washer to make sure it functions properly.
