Step 1: Shut off power to the water heater. This can be done either by unplugging the thermostat or unplugging the unit itself.
Step 2: Turn on all of the hot water faucets in your home and then locate the relief valve that is connected to the water heater.
Step 3: Turn the knob of the relief valve in a counterclockwise direction until the water flow stops completely.
Step 4: Place a container beneath the Whirlpool WP67004106 HEAD- WATE and then use a wrench or adjustable pliers to disconnect the connection between the unit and the pipe.
Step 5: Remove any debris from the surface of the head before installing the new one.
Step 6: Locate the two brackets that are used to attach the head to the water heater and then remove the existing head.
Step 7: Place the new Whirlpool WP67004106 HEAD- WATE in place, making sure that the connection is secure and aligned properly.
Step 8: Re-attach the two brackets and then turn the knob of the relief valve clockwise until it stops.
Step 9: Turn on the power to the water heater and check for any leaks before use.
