This Dishwasher Upper Spray Arm Retaining Clip is what holds the upper spray arm on. If your dishwasher's spray arm is no longer secure, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Pull the upper rack out halfway to access the part. Replacing this part will require no disassembly or repair experience. DIY: How to Replace a Whirlpool WP3400918 Retainer
Step 1: Gather the necessary materials. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a small flathead screwdriver, and the new WP3400918 retainer.
Step 2: Unplug the appliance. Before you begin your repair, always unplug the appliance from the wall socket to prevent any electrical shock or damage.
Step 3: Remove the mounting screws. There may be 4-5 screws located on the bottom of the appliance that hold the retainer in place. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove them.
Step 4: Carefully pull the retainer out from beneath the appliance. If it’s stuck, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry it loose.
Step 5: Insert the new retainer. Make sure the four sides are aligned properly, then press it into place at the four corners.
Step 6: Replace the mounting screws. Secure the retainer with the screws you removed in Step 3.
Step 7: Plug the appliance back in. Once you’ve replaced the retainer, turn the power back on to make sure everything is functioning properly.
