W10404050 Whirlpool Washer Door Lid Lock & Latch Assembly
This Top Load Washer Lid Latch Assembly tells your washer the lid is closed so it can go into its spin cycle, and also locks the lid. The full kit includes an instruction manual, two different colored bezels depending on the color of your washer, and the lid latch assembly. If your washer isn't starting as expected, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Replacing Whirlpool Washer Door Lid Lock & Latch Assembly (W10404050)
Instructions
1. Unplug the washer from its electrical power source and shut off the water supply.
2. Remove the screws securing the top panel of the washer. There should be two screws located on the back of the washer and two screws located near the control panel.
3. Lift up the top panel and disconnect the wiring harness that connects it to the control board.
4. Remove the old door lid lock & latch assembly.
5. Place the new W10404050 door lid lock & latch assembly in its place. Make sure the mounting holes are aligned properly.
6. Secure the new assembly with the provided screws.
7. Reconnect the wiring harness to the washer's control board.
8. Replace the top panel and secure it with the screws.
9. Plug the washer back into its electrical power source and turn on the water supply.
10. Test the new W10404050 door lid lock & latch assembly to make sure it is working properly.
